Client OS Terms of Use · Version 2026-09-26
Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Generational Security Client OS (the "Client OS"). By selecting "I agree" you accept them. If you do not agree, do not use the Client OS and contact your advisor to arrange another way to work together.
1. What the Client OS is
The Client OS is your private Knowledge Bank: secure software in which you record your household's financial picture — for example the people in your household, your accounts, retirement benefits, insurance policies, property, tax records, advisors and your letter of instruction — and store the documents that go with it. Your advisor may also use it to ask you for particular documents.
2. Private by default, shared by your choice
- Everything is private. What you add to the Client OS is visible only to you unless you choose to share it.
- You decide what to share. You can share an individual entry or document with your advisor. Sharing an entry also shares the documents attached to it, and any documents you attach while it is shared.
- Answering a request is sharing. A document you upload in answer to a request from your advisor is shared with your advisor when you upload it. The Client OS labels these documents so you can see which they are.
- You can stop sharing at any time. When you make an entry or document private again, your advisor loses access to it in the Client OS immediately. Information your advisor already downloaded or relied on to advise you before you stopped sharing may remain in your advisor's own records, as their professional and legal obligations require.
3. What your advisor can see
Your advisor at Generational Security can see only the entries and documents you share, and your answers to their requests. Your advisor cannot see your private entries or documents. Generational Security personnel do not view your private items through the Client OS; technical access to the systems that run it is limited to what is needed to operate, secure and support it.
4. What the Client OS is not
The Client OS does not give tax, legal, accounting or investment advice. Advice, if any, comes from your advisor under your separate engagement with them, not from the Client OS. A request from your advisor is not a determination of what any third party will require.
5. Your responsibilities
- Accuracy. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you record and share. When you share a document with your advisor, share a true and complete copy.
- Your account. Keep your email account, your authenticator app and your recovery codes secure. Do not share your sign-in with anyone. Tell your advisor at once if you believe someone else has accessed your account.
- No passwords. Do not store passwords or other sign-in credentials in the Client OS. Record where your password manager and its emergency kit are kept instead.
- Appropriate content. Store only information and documents that relate to your household's affairs. Do not upload files you do not have the right to store, or files containing malicious code.
6. Editing and deleting
You can edit or delete your private entries and delete your private documents at any time. An entry or document that is shared with your advisor must be made private before it can be deleted. Deleting removes the item from your Knowledge Bank; see the Privacy Notice for what we retain afterwards.
7. Activity records
To protect you, the Client OS records every upload, download, share and un-share, each time a protected number (such as a Social Security or account number) is shown, and each change to a request. These records say who acted and when; they do not copy the contents of your private entries.
8. Availability
We work to keep the Client OS available and secure, but it may occasionally be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. Keep your own copies of important documents. Do not rely on the Client OS as your only copy of any record.
9. Ending access
Your access ends when your engagement ends, or earlier if we reasonably believe your account is being misused. Where we can, we will tell you in advance so that you can download your documents. Ending access does not by itself delete your records; see the Privacy Notice for how long we keep them.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Generational Security is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the Client OS. Nothing in these terms limits any duty your advisor owes you under your advisory agreement or under applicable law.
11. Changes
If we change these terms we will show you the new version the next time you sign in and ask you to accept it before you continue.

Privacy Notice
What does Generational Security do with your personal information?
Financial companies choose how they share your personal information. Federal law gives consumers the right to limit some but not all sharing, and requires us to tell you how we collect, share and protect your personal information. Please read this notice carefully.
The short version
The Client OS is your private Knowledge Bank. What you put in it is private to you by default. Your advisor sees only what you choose to share, and the documents you send in answer to their requests. You can stop sharing at any time.
What we collect
When you use the Client OS, we collect:
- Identity and contact details — your name and email address, and the name of your household.
- What you record in your Knowledge Bank — for example details of the people in your household (which may include dates of birth and Social Security numbers), your accounts, retirement benefits, insurance policies, property, tax records, contacts, advisors, subscriptions and your letter of instruction.
- Documents you upload — for example statements, policies, deeds, tax returns and identification. These often contain Social Security numbers, account numbers, income and other sensitive information.
- Requests from your advisor — what your advisor has asked for and the status of each request.
- Security and usage records — sign-in times, the IP address and browser used, two-step verification events, and a record of every upload, download, share and un-share, and each time a protected number is shown.
Why we collect it
We use this information only to:
- provide the Client OS to you, so that you can keep your household's financial picture and documents in one place;
- let your advisor see what you choose to share, and advise you;
- keep your account secure and keep an accurate record of who accessed what; and
- meet our legal and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who can see it
- You. Everything in your Knowledge Bank is visible to you.
- Your advisor — only what you share. Your advisor at Generational Security sees an entry or document only while you share it, and the documents you upload in answer to their requests. Your private entries and documents are not shown to your advisor. When you stop sharing something, your advisor loses access to it in the Client OS immediately; anything your advisor already downloaded or relied on may remain in their records as the law and professional obligations require.
- Service providers who operate the Client OS for us — for example secure cloud hosting, encrypted file storage and email delivery. They may use information only to provide those services to us, under written confidentiality and security obligations.
- People you authorize. With your permission, your advisor may pass information you have shared to others working for you, such as your tax preparer or attorney. Sharing tax return information for these purposes also requires your separate consent under Internal Revenue Code section 7216.
- When the law requires it — for example in response to a valid subpoena or regulatory examination.
Because we do not share your information with affiliates or non-affiliates for marketing, and do not share it except as described above, there is nothing you need to opt out of.
How we protect it
- Private by default. Nothing you add is visible to your advisor until you share it, and your household's information is separated from every other client's.
- Encryption. Information is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Protected numbers such as Social Security, account and policy numbers are also encrypted individually and shown masked until you ask to see them.
- Two-step verification. Every sign-in to the Client OS requires both an emailed link and a code from your authenticator app.
- Activity logging. Every upload, download, share and un-share, and each time a protected number is shown, is recorded with who did it and when. These records do not copy the contents of your private entries.
- File checks. Uploaded files are checked to confirm they are the type of file they claim to be.
How long we keep it
We keep your Knowledge Bank while your account is active. Documents you delete are removed from our file storage. Entries you delete are removed from your Knowledge Bank and from anything your advisor can see, and are kept only as long as our records and backups require. Information you shared with your advisor, your answers to their requests, and the activity records are kept for the period required by law and professional record-keeping obligations — generally at least seven years after your engagement ends — after which they are securely deleted.
Your choices
You decide what to share with your advisor and can stop sharing at any time. You can download your documents and delete private entries and documents yourself. You may also ask us to correct your contact details or to close your account. Some records, such as the activity log and information you shared with your advisor, cannot be deleted before the end of the retention period because we are required to keep an accurate record.
